Applications for funding under the Victorian Optometrists Training and Education (VOTE) Trust are now open, awarding grants of up to $10,000 that advance and foster the practice of optometry through research and education to improve patient outcomes.
The scheme is intended to improve Victorian optometrists’ ability to practice and Victorian students’ ability to undertake training, principally in Victoria.
Optometry Board of Australia Chair Ian Bluntish said VOTE Trust grants will be considered for projects that may include postgraduate training and continuing education, undergraduate training and education and profession improvement.
‘The VOTE Trust supports projects that aim to benefit Victorian optometrists and their patients and provide wider benefits to practitioners and the public,’ he said.
The VOTE Trust was established in 2010 by the Optometrists Registration Board of Victoria. Funding was transferred to the Optometry Board of Australia following establishment of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme on 1 July 2010.
The 2018–2019 applications close at 5.00 pm AEST on 5 October 2018.
Further information, including on preparing an application, guidelines and eligibility, are available on the VOTE Trust page on the Optometry Board of Australia website.
